Week Three

Last weeks results:

Miscues defeat Sexy Poolerz 5-2 - With their top two players combined for a 6-0 record, MC is certainly shaping up to be a force as expected, their win over a surprisingly strong SP squad is a marquee victory, and will be interesting to see what SP can do in a bounce back effort this week.

Dead Strokes defeat Straight Shots 5-4 - After Ashton almost carried them in week one, the return of Corey paid great dividends as he carried his squad to a win over a sputtering Straight Shots team. There's no excuse for SS to be doing this poorly with the amount of talent they have, and it's hard to write them off already as last season they started off poorly as well.

Pool Fiction defeat Freedom 5-4 - Close match like always it seems, but by the looks of it Freedom only showed with 3 players, Petey wasn't there so that may explain it. Freedom can't depend Petey every match to organize it if they look to do well in such a short interleague season. As per Pool Fiction, great win here moving forward into this week.

Break and Run defeat Pool Dragonz 5-1 - A lot less competitive then it should have been, but by the looks of it what it lacked in competition, it gained in drama. See Peter Laveau's blog for that spiel.

MVP Standings (as it is oh-so useful):
fr_Sabre Girl - 5-2
bnr_xlx_skill_xlx - 4-0
ds_Hockey_Kid - 3-0
mc_ant8br - 3-0
mc_lxl_nerd.herd_lxl - 3-0
ds_sin-e - 3-1
fr_Travis - 3-1
ss_fhm_champion - 3-2
ss_baracka.flocka - 3-2

The top 6 from last week (who show here) went a combined 4-2 this week.

Monday @ 6pm - Break and Run [2-0] @ Miscues [2-0]
Mondays still suck. Both sides are coming off relatively easy weeks where neither side were pressured, but it sure will change this week. Break and Run has been led by none other then Jordy who for the second week has gone 2-0 to help keep Break and Run at the top. Much was made in the off-season about who Break and Run were going to recruit to fill all the voids players left them when they went else where, and while they do have a good supporting cast, it's Jordys team and he's not complaining. This week though, he'll need his teammates to step up because there's arguably only one person who can carry a team week after week, and he's on the other side. Ant, joined by Nerd and Ben among others have had a relatively easy start going 10-5, and they've played PFN, which speaks volumes about their talent. With Ant at the helm you know the top 5 available for the match will be playing so Jordy & co. will have their work cut out this week.

Prediction - 5-3 Miscues

Tuesday @ 6pm - Freedom [1-1] @ Sexy Poolerz [1-1]
Both squads started off the season with a solid week 1 showing, but both sides also failed to do much in week 2. With Freedom only bringing 3, but being able to push PFN to a game 9 really shows how Freedom are a true force this PRO season and with a solid 5 every week, the only thing that could stop them from winning it all is their captain not showing up to get a team together. SP on the other hand, brought a similar 5 against MC this past week but failed to get the wheels going early and just couldn't compete. This match is pretty interesting as both sides know each other fairly well, so Bev will need to capitalize on matching up well in the first 5 games, and hope her boys can hold on for the win, but coming off a UIC Championship, I doubt Freedom will slow down anytime soon.

Prediction - 5-3 Freedom

Tuesday @ 7pm - Straight Shots [0-2] @ Pool Fiction [1-1]
So here we have two teams, both in very unfamiliar territory. Straight Shots are rarely ever below .500, sure it's early, but I need something to write about do I not? Ditto with Pool Fiction, you're used to seeing them at the top, undefeated until late in the season, but here we see them 1-1, but at the same time they've easily had the toughest schedule to start the season, so Kerry, is it time for you to catch fire and build a streak off of last weeks win? Very plausible given Straight Shots slow start to this season, but they also started last season off very slow and caught fire to finish the season. This isn't an ideal opponent to start a streak against but if Straight Shots want to prove they're a title contender, Ben will need to take this seriously as falling into an 0-3 hole to start a 10 week season is far from ideal, unless they want the toughest road possible to the finals. Both squads roll with similar line ups week in and week out so look to see Ben, Justin and Nhan roll with the likes of Brian, Jamie and Brent. Beyond those 3 probables, I really feel SS has a better supporting cast and looking at PFN's struggles against Eba from Freedom last week, I do see Straight Shots bouncing back and putting PFN into a hole early on.

Prediction - 5-3 Straight Shots

Thursday @ 7pm - Pool Dragonz [0-2] @ Dead Strokes [1-1]
Uh-oh, is PDZ going to go all WSOP-like on our asses and just not win a game at all? Drew & co., will need to get their act together and soon if they look to take advantage of a struggling SS squad and make an early push for the playoffs. PDZ have a limited roster and have lost Brice for the season as he transferred to SP, so who will fill the void for the depth-lacking PDZ team? Drew will need to find someone and fast other wise this could be a long 10 week season for them. DS on the other hand are taking great advantage of the carry system with 2 players holding 66% of their overall wins, imagine if they both played in the same match week after week. Dead Strokes more often then not have multiple question marks surrounding their team, but if the first 2 weeks is anything to show us, this Dead Strokes side is definitely one that could be hanging around the top of their conference all season long.

Prediction - 5-3 Dead Strokes
