Beer Ball Masters [10-3] vs Break and Run [5-8]
Season series: Week 7 - BBM def. BNR 5-4. JT 3-0, Ross 4-1
After both sides took their conference final opponents the distance, we have a finals match up that all would hope goes just as far for the pure enjoyment of the talent offered. Tyler & co. had an easier dispatching Freedom as they were led by Kevin, JT and MJ who all went 3-1 and were all part of the 5-0 sweep in game 2. While it is no surprise that Kevin and MJ led the team, JTs play served as a key part and now will be relied heavily against a stronger BNR squad. BNR had a tougher time with FTW as their final game went the distance, but thanks to Jordy and Tan who combined for a 10-3 record, they were able to pull through in the end. Break and Run will need to find depth as some of their talent such as Craig [2-1], didn't play to his potential in the conference finals. If it wasn't for one of Jordy or Tan, BNR wouldn't be here. Despite facing a better opponent than BBM, BNR went only as far as those two took them, and they can't do the same against BBM. Players like Jim [0-3] and Mina [2-3] will need to step up if they look to return to their winning ways of seasons 9 & 11. While Kevin, JT and MJ, Tyler seemed to fade away going just 1-1 while the MVP-candidate Brent wasn't able to get going at 3-2. These matches could go either way as it is hard to bet against a team going up 3-0 or 4-0 early or every match starting out 3-2. All these players have been here before, so the stakes are known and the last 15 weeks are at risk of being lost. Expect a great finals!
Prediction
Match 1 - With home side advantage, Tyler takes advantage and puts Kevin and MJ up against Tan and Jordy and both are ousted as the BBM duo lead BBM to a 5-3 victory.
Match 2 - Jordy is able to break through and pick up multiple wins while Craig and Tan are able to defeat Kevin and MJ. Brent makes it to game 9 but Jordys precision gives him and BNR the 5-4 victory.
Match 3 - Tan and Jim are defeated early, while Jordy continues his ways, but JT completes his marvelous run and clinches the title for BBM 5-3.

Conference Finals
Break and Run [3-7] vs For The Win [8-2]
Season series: 5-4 FTW (Jordy 4-1, Ant 2-0), 5-1 FTW (Ant 2-0, Tino 1-1)
Break and Run have had their worst season in PRO since season 9, yet some how managed to make the playoffs. Combine the incompetence of DS, and DP not winning until the very end, you see how a 3-7 team can actually finish top two in their division. The great thing for Ross & co. is that they're in, and nothing else matters now. In their first match Jordy was almost to run the table but came up short to Ant in game 9, while in their second match Break and Run could muster nothing and it was once again Ant who clinched the match with his second win. Those score lines show quite the pattern, that since For The Win came about and entered PRO, Break and Run hasn't been able to notch more than one win against them in a season, and what looks like only once in the past 3 seasons including playoffs. In PRO, Break and Run has only gone as far as Jordy will take them as evident by these two matches, and even his lackluster season (by his standards). Jordy will need some help if they look to have a shot at winning 2 out of 3 from FTW, and while Jim was able to put in a good season, the likes of Craig, Ross and Mina will need to turn it out when it counts as avenging their poor seasons is a big key this week. Again, none of that matters as everyone has a clean slate for the playoffs, but Ross & co. know they have an up-hill battle against a team that looks poised to complete the three-peat. Led by Ant and Brian who finished with a combined record of 29-9 in 18 matches, the success formula only continues. Last season the duo finished 32-10 in 24 matches and FTW won the title, and the season prior it was Ant and Stephen who led them at 14-4 and won their first title. Every season they have two stand outs, and a supporting cast that would star on other teams. These season Roy has the same record as Jordy, and with players like Stephen and Carlos not playing that much but eligible, the amount of talent seems unfair. Given the history between these two sides, Danielle & co. should be one step closer to their illusive three-peat.
Prediction
Match 1 - Jordy loses early and Craig can't muster more than one win, 5-2 FTW
Match 2 - Both Jordy and Craig are able to win their first, Brian falls but Ant & Carlos are able to finish it off. 5-3 FTW
Freedom [7-3] vs Beer Ball Masters [8-2]
Season series: 5-4 BBM (Brent 5-0), 5-3 BBM (Nish 3-1, Coma 2-0)
After starting the season 0-2 and behind Straight Shots right up until the end, Freedom comes in as the hottest team thanks to another outstanding season by Pete. Despite him not playing the first few weeks, he was able to average going 2-0 in the final 6 weeks including multiple clinches as he did his best Jordy impression. But like Jordy, Pete will need his team to rebound from a poor season if they look to topple a team they never have. Players like Andy, Ben, Cam, Scotty and Adam are historically play-off performers, but their lack of games (apart from Cameron) offer the question of if they have retired for good. We can however, count on Cameron to show along with Nish and Brandon, who put in good seasons to help lift Freedom into the playoffs. The addition of Sergio may have been the biggest move as Freedom secure something they have been struggling more and more with, which is depth in the playoffs, but with 9 eligible for the playoffs, the only issue resides with BBM. After starting the season 8-0, they gave way the final two weeks which means little even with their often no shows in other interleagues. Tyler has an arsenal of players who live for competition, and with their skills, they don't see much until the playoffs. Brent started the season carrying BBM until the rest of the team found their groove. Coma, Kevin and JT put in solid seasons and with MJ and Matt available for Tyler, you almost want to go ahead and want to see FTW and BBM clash for the title. However, the games actually need to be played. Tyler hasn't had much experience as captain as it's been a relative breeze for him, but with MJ and Kevin, rather Kevin having his beef with MJ, it'll be interesting to see what comes of it at the table if either decide not to show. I can't see MJ missing the match over this though and if Brent is able to play like he did in the first half of the season, Tyler & co. shouldn't have much issue with Freedom.
Prediction
Match 1 - MJ and Coma are able to keep up with the slow play of Andy & Pete and Freedom are unable to gain any momentum, 5-1 BBM
Match 2 - A closer match as the tappers in Freedom are able to take advantage of non-tappers of BBM, but Brent takes care of them with the help of Coma in the later games, 5-3 BBM
Season series: 5-4 FTW (Jordy 4-1, Ant 2-0), 5-1 FTW (Ant 2-0, Tino 1-1)

Week Ten
Deep Pockets [2-7] @ Dead Strokes [3-6]
Last week: DP lost to FTW 1-5, DS def. BNR 5-2
While the playoff implications are listed below, Dead Strokes had a massive win last week over Break ad Run as Ifran, George and Omar all notched wins in quite arguably their biggest this season as now they, surprisingly, have a shot at the playoffs while sitting at a 3-6 mark. Even when you consider the under-performing season that George & co. have had, it's much better to be facing the fourth place team rather than the defending champions to earn yourself a play-off spot, but considering the past few seasons Dead Strokes have had, who knows what to expect, but if they are able to duplicate last weeks line-up with the same type of effort, they put themselves in a great spot while putting the pressure on Break and Run to perform. Even more surprising than DS at 3-6 having a shot at the playoffs is DP having a shot at the playoffs if they are able to win this week and finish 3-7. True story. Deep Pockets were unable to continue their winning ways against a much stronger FTW, but they still sit one game back of the playoffs. Matt has no doubt been carrying the team on his back in the past month, and if DP has any hopes, more than just Matt will need to step up. While Matt could do it alone, I don't see George allowing it.
Playoff implications:
For DP to make the playoffs: DP needs to win 5-1 or 5-0 coupled with a BNR loss. If DP wins 5-2 and BNR loses, DP would tie DS for second but give way to the overall win/loss, thus finishing 3rd. DP has current tie break over BNR 9-8.
For DS to make playoffs: DS to win, BNR to lose.
Notable matches this season:
Week 1: BNR 5-4 DP, Week 2: BNR 5-1 DS, Week 3: DS 5-2 DP, Week 8: DP 5-3 BNR, Week 9: DS 5-2 BNR
Prediction - 5-3 DS
Beer Ball Masters [8-1] @ Straight Shots [5-4]
Last week: BBM lost to PHP 4-5, SS lost to FR 2-5
While both sides are coming off big losses, only one loss matters. BBM had the playoffs clinched a few weeks ago, and the number one seed almost as long, but the loss by Straight Shots puts them in a bit of a predicament, but it starts with this match. Sid & co. need to come out and pick up a win if they look to have any chance at moving on past this week. But it seems like Sid and Dante need to come out if they look to have any chance. Sid has been absent the past two weeks and SS have gone from a game up in the playoff race to a game down in just two weeks. While most teams hope someone picks it up unexpectedly during the season to give their team a much needed boost, waiting until the final week seems moronic, not heroic, so Dante and Sid will need to show and play at their best if they look to take down the #1 team in PRO right now who suffered a surprising loss last week. Sure the loss was meaningless outside of ruining a perfect season, but does a team consisting of Tyler, MJ, Coma, JT and Matt really enjoy losing? There's too much talent on their roster to lose once, let alone back to back matches. Look for BBM to come out hitting heavy as they gain momentum for the playoffs.
Playoff implication:
For SS to make the playoffs: SS needs to win, FR needs to lose.
Notable matches this season:
Week 2: SS 5-1 FR, Week 9: FR 5-2 SS
Prediction - 5-2 BBM
Freedom [6-3] @ Pool Hall Pros [2-7]
Last week: FR def. SS 5-2, PHP def. BBM 5-4
While Freedom is coming off their most important win this season, they may be playing into the hands of a much-stronger-than-their-record-indicates PHP squad who were able to pull off their second straight upset, and the third time could be the charm that blows Freedoms season to pieces. Candi was finally able to pull through for her first real carry of the season, and her 6-0 mark in the past two matches is exactly why PHP are +2. The first time around, Candi was only able to go 1-1 with Cameron, now with Freedom, being the only other winner for PHP. Candi has the talent to make it 3 in a row, but Freedom understands the win-and-you're-in situation and while Freedom only has one player with an outstanding record, there is too much talent on the roster to underestimate Freedom as a title contender. Both Niks and Serena just need one more match for the playoffs, pile on any combination of Pete, Adam, Cam, Ben, Andy, etc and Freedom shouldn't have much issue this week.
Playoff implication:
For FR to make the playoffs: A win for FR and they're in. A loss for FR and they need an SS loss.
Notable matches this season:
Week 2: SS 5-1 FR, Week 9: FR 5-2 SS
Prediction - 5-3 FR
Break and Run [3-6] @ For The Win [6-2]
Last week: BNR lost to DS 5-2, FTW def. DP 5-1
What looks to be the final match of the regular season will assure to end the season in dramatic fashion, even if the playoff picture has been painted. Despite an ill-timed loss to Dead Strokes last week, Ross & co. can thank Joe for notching enough wins against DS to deny them a playoff spot. With no possible change to the playoff picture, both sides can focus on the more important things, such as getting depth eligible for the playoffs. FTW have one player sitting at 2 matches while Break and Run have an entire 4 who need one last game. Last season I do believe these two met up in a similar type where only first place was on the line but FTW seemed more interested in attempting to get Ant to the top of the MVP ladder board, who is in a similar position this season. If Break and Run look to get those 4 eligible, Ant should have no issue piling up a few wins to move into the top spot, but regardless look for FTW to come out strong and look to make a statement for their first round match-up.
Why Break and Run make playoffs:
Despite Deep Pockets holding the tie break over Break and Run (9-8), Break and Run hold the tie break over Dead Strokes (7-6), who hold the tie break over Deep Pockets (8-7) meaning the overall win/loss ratio leans towards Break and Run, even with a 5-0 loss, unless I've misunderstood the tie break rules.
Prediction - 5-3 FTW

Week Nine
With a pair of upsets last week, a lot can still happen for the playoffs. There are many different scenarios to play out as all but one team still have a shot at playoffs, so this season is far from over.
Straight Shots [5-3] @ Freedom [5-3]
Last week: SS lose to PHP 3-5, FR lose to BBM 3-5
Early in the week SS were able to watch Freedom lose to BBM which opened up the door for them to take a stranglehold on the playoff battle, but were unable to as they lost a surprising one. Now, in theory we have a winner take all situation. Straight Shots won the first match 5-1, so they have a good chance at winning a tie break should it come down to it, but life would be a lot easier with a victory this week. Sid, Dante and JJ will have to be ready to go as they face a Freedom squad who are no strangers to fighting for their playoff lives. Pete's first loss of the season came at a bad time as Nish was unable to carry the load despite going 3-1. If Andy, Serena, Nish and Pete are able to show up and play like they normally do, Freedom should walk away with a victory that would put them in the drivers seat.
Prediction - 5-3 FR
Pool Hall Pros [1-7] @ Beer Ball Masters [8-0]
Last week: PHP def. SS 5-3, BBM def. FR 5-3
While BBM were expected to win, the win by Candi & co. was a surprising one and certainly puts the rest of the conference on upset watch. While an upset in this match would have no effect on anything, it would give PHP some late season momentum to carry into other interleagues and seasons. PHP had a good line-up last week, but considering it always seems to change and BBM are rolling, I can't see an upset this week.
Prediction - 5-2 BBM
Dead Strokes [2-6] @ Break and Run [3-5]
Last week: DS lose to FTW 3-5, BNR lose to DP 3-5
If anyone saw this coming, you're lieing. Last weeks loss by BNR to DP makes this playoff race a lot more interesting as BNR only have a one game advantage over both of them and still play FTW next week. A win against DS would be huge and quite possibly necessary if they look to avoid their worst season in PRO. The last time Break and Run had more than 5 losses in a season is back in Season 12 when they finished 7-6. No one would have expected Break and Run to finish this season 5-5 with all the talent they possess, but if Break and Run are able to win out, they're in. For Dead Strokes, they'll need to win out if they look to have a shot at making the playoffs, something that seems so far fetched at 2-6 but that's the past, and they have a chance for the future and that's all they need to care about. With Neo boxed once again, it of course comes down to George and Omar to carry the load and hope they're able to get some quality support. Break and Run will need their studs to have bounce back weeks if they look to avoid such a strange disaster of a season. While neither team has been impressive, it's more likely that Dead Strokes will continue the trend and squander an opportunity.
Prediction - 5-3 BNR
For The Win [6-2] @ Deep Pockets [2-6]
Last week: FTW def. DS 5-3, DP def. BNR 5-3
Two weeks ago DP were predicted to continue their losing ways onto what looked like an 0-10 season, yet they find themselves in the playoff hunt. Yes, this Joe led team who started 0-6 actually have a chance at the playoffs. Of course I also have a chance at winning the local lotto so we'll see how that goes. FTW rebounded nicely last week with Roy and Ant accounting for 4 wins and will look to keep it going against DP. Matt has been big this season, and big lately as he went 3-0 last week against BNR to upset them, coupled with Odile who has been coming on strong lately. DP have put together two nice wins in a row, and if they keep their streak going, it will certainly be the most impressive of the three, but I just can't see FTW losing this at all.
Prediction - 5-2 FTW
Straight Shots [5-3] @ Freedom [5-3]
Last week: SS lose to PHP 3-5, FR lose to BBM 3-5

Matt has been big this season, and big lately as he went 3-0 last week against BNR to upset them, coupled with Odile who has been coming on strong lately. DP have put together two nice wins in a row, and if they keep their streak going, it will certainly be the most impressive of the three, but I just can't see FTW losing this at all.
Prediction - 5-2 FTW

Week Eight
Dead Strokes @ For The Win
Last week: DS lost to FR 4-5, FTW def. SS 5-4
Dead Strokes let one slip away last week as they had a chance to move into second spot in the Pacific but failed to do so, and now they face a must win against the back to back champions. While Danielle & co went the distance with Straight Shots, there may never have been much question if they could finish it off as they took several stabs at Sid and finally their last attempt was the one that won it. While Dead Strokes were able to get up early last week, the chances of taking down a more talented line-up seems unlikely, look for Ant and Brian to get back to their early-season MVP ways.
Prediction - 5-2 FTW
Break and Run @ Deep Pockets
Last week: BNR lost to BBM 4-5, DP def. PHP 5-0
Ross was unable to right the ship his players wronged when a valiant effort ended on the wrong side, but thankfully for them they are still a game up for the playoffs with a tie breaker in hand. This week they face a DP side that got their first ever win in PRO, convincingly too. Joe & co. came up big last week and show they are a viable threat to play the role of spoiler in the final 3 weeks of the season. While DP could win, I don't see BNR not turning their poor play around.
Prediction - 5-2 BNR
Freedom @ Beer Ball Masters
Last week: FR def. DS 5-4, BBM def. BNR 5-4
Both sides are coming off nail-biting victories and while early on BBM had Brent do all of the work, including a clean sweep over Freedom, in the middle part of the season we saw Pete come back to do his best Brent impression, and now they meet. But the two of them are just a minor part in this match as both squads feature great depth and another 5-4 match could very well be on the horizon. Freedom need the likes of Sergio, Andy, Cam, Ben and others need to step up as they'll be up against studs like Kevin, Tyler, Coma, Matt and JT who just seem to be playing better as a unit, and with being home, it looks like it is theirs to lose.
Prediction - 5-3 BBM
Straight Shots @ Pool Hall Pros
SS lost to FTW 4-5, PHP lost to DP 0-5
The final match of the week is the biggest mismatch as we see a strong SS squad led by Sid and Dante who despite a loss last week against the back to back champs, are firing on all cylinders and are looking more and more like a legit threat to take the title. The only thing holding them back is depth which is unusual for Straight Shots, but alas. This week they take on PHP who weren't able to take a single game away from the other win-less team as they see their record sink to 0-7. The lone bright spot was Collin who made the finals in the tournament and has done well in tournaments prior, so if he's able to make a match, it'll be interesting to see if some of that success is able to carry over because there might not be much else in this match.
Prediction - 5-1 SS

Week Seven
Deep Pockets [0-6] vs Pool Hall Pros [0-6]
Last week: DP lost vs SS 4-5, PHP lost to BNR 0-5
In the first match of the week, we will see one of these two cellar dwellers get their first win. Both sides are too talented to be 0-6 yet that is where they both find themselves. DP have been in some late matches though, recently a game 9 last week vs SS and a game 8 against FR but couldn't finish it off. PHP have taken a top team to the wire as well but couldn't get it done in game 9 vs FTW. The issue for PHP is that they have no consistent players as only Candi seems to show regularly. DP are not that much more consistent, but have more consistency with players like Matt and Will. This really is a toss up as both Matt and Will could pose a big threat to Candi & co., but if she can get her newest addition Ash to show up, he should be the deciding factor.
Prediction - 5-4 PHP
For The Win [4-2] vs Straight Shots [5-1]
Last week: FTW lost vs FR 4-5 , SS def. DP 5-4
Both sides are coming off matches that went the distance but different results. FTW let one slip away against Freedom but are still a game ahead for the first overall seed with a current tie break over BNR. Danielle & co. are -2 for the first time possibly ever in PRO, but with the likes of Ant, Brian and Carlos leading the way, should the times ever get tough for them, those 3 are the first to make it easy once again for FTW. This week may be a tough task though as SS have been picking up momentum with their marquee player, Dante finally hitting his stride as the wins keep coming in. The issue for Straight Shots though is beyond Dante and their captain Sid, no one else has broken through this season, so with the likes of Danielle, Roy and Stephen backing their top three up, Straight Shots' streak should finally see the end.
Prediction - 5-3 FTW
Dead Strokes [2-4] vs Freedom [4-2]
Last week: DS lost to BBM 0-5, FR def. FTW 5-4
A minor rivalry of old is renewed this week in what is shaping up to be this weeks best chance at a blow out. Dead Strokes got swept last week which doesn't bode well at all for George and Omar as they aren't able to take advantage of the early season falters by both BNR and FTW. They will need their best to show if they look to have any shot against an upbeat Freedom squad. Freedom have been on fire lately and seemingly only getting better as they were able to take FTW to the wire last week and beat them in 9. Pete hasn't lost since his return this season and the pick-ups of Cam and Sergio has added key depth to this squad. Freedom shouldn't have much issue with this match this week.
Prediction - 5-1 FR
Break and Run [3-3] vs Beer Ball Masters [6-0]
Last week: BNR def. PHP 5-0, BBM def. DS 5-0
Two sides that could both very well meet up in the finals meet up this week after coming off blow outs this past week. The win for BNR finally ended their longest losing skid in recent memory but unless they keep that momentum going, they'll start another one quick. Jordy and Craig are going to have to play like it's 2010 if BNR look to have a shot at the number one seed. On the flip side, it looks like BBM is on cruise control for the first overall seed, last week was a clean sweep who seem to finally have hit their stride as Brent is no longer the go to man, as all these men are. If Coma and Kevin are able to make this match and pick up a win in their first game, it should be lights out for Break and Run.
Prediction - 5-3 BBM

Week Six
Half way through the season, we're able to get a good indication of where leagues may finish up, so let's take a quick peek back at the pre-season predictions and see how each league has done thus far.
Atlantic Conference
1st - Beer Ball Masters
So far, so good for Tyler & co. After escaping a week one upset, and last week getting past FTW in 9 games, they see themselves undefeated but in tough to finish first. They cannot afford any slip ups in their conference, but if Brent is able to stay on his MVP-like form, BBM are certainly the team to beat.
Current prediction - 1st
2nd - Freedom
After what was an atrocious start allowing a big upset to collapse, Nish has turned this ship around quickly. While they do sit in third currently, with the likes of Adam, Andy, Cam, DJ, Matt, Pete, Serena and Scotty having showed already when there were many question marks regarding whether or not they would play this season, gives Nish the depth necessary for yet another playoff run.
Current prediction - 2nd
3rd - Straight Shots
The addition of both Sid and Dante has proven to be key for SS this season as they have gotten off to a great start, and with the pick up of Brice Straight Shots look to be a solid playoff team, and while they do hold a game and tie break over Freedom for second, I don't see this squad keeping it together all season long and if it comes down to the final week, they'll be in tough against BBM.
Current prediction - 3rd
4th - Pool Hall Pros
While they've yet to pick up a win, they've showed great promise keeping a few matches close with flashes of brilliance. While they have yet to be eliminated yet, a lot will have to fall in place for them to make the post-season. Hopefully this season acts as a learning experience for Candi & co. who should finish stronger than they started.
Current prediction - 4th
Pacific Conference
1st - For The Win
While they suffered a tough loss last week, they still have a comfortable lead in their conference and with 2 of the top 3 players in PRO, Danielle & co. shouldn't have to worry the rest of the way. The only issue they may encounter is having a full roster, and while it may not be necessary now, they do have 5 weeks to try and find some depth for the playoffs.
Current prediction - 1st
2nd - Break and Run
Currently on a 3 game slide which should end this week, but Break and Run have shown a different side this season. The last time Ross & co. endured a 3 match losing streak may be the last time I made up a stat, it's been a while, and in a 10 game season, that can make or break the season. While Jordy has been Jordy, Jim has stepped up to help but with DS right on their tails, it'll be a close one but with DS having to face both FR and BBM still in cross conference, that could be the difference.
Current prediction - 2nd
3rd - Dead Strokes
Yet another rough start for Dead Strokes in PRO, and while they are in a better position than seasons past, they still have two tough cross conference opponents to go but the ball is certainly in their court.Omar and Ogges will have to step up and lead the team as it seems no one else is, but it's tough to see them doing it by themselves.
Current prediction - 4th
4th - Deep Pockets
While the Brice and Joe marriage did not work out, they have shown some promise taking teams to games 8 and 9, but unfortunately, all that matters are W's and L's. They are in a position to play spoiler and can do so if teams take them lightly.
Current prediction - 4th
Either I'm great at predicting, or I'm stubborn.. Onto this weeks predictions!
Straight Shots [4-1] @ Deep Pockets [0-5]
Last week: SS def. BNR 5-2, DP lost to FR 3-5
Sid & co. come into this weeks match up fresh off a big win over Break and Run last week, and they'll look to keep the wins coming in this cross conference portion of the schedule as they look to keep up with BBM. Deep Pockets were able to take Freedom deep last week showing their talent when they're underestimated, so look for Joe to lead his troops into this fired up for the possibility of an upset. New comer Brice will look to beat up on his old team while Sid looks to hope JJ can turn his season around with a couple of wins. DP should win enough to keep it interesting, but not enough to scare SS.
Prediction - 5-3 SS
Freedom [3-2] @ For The Win [4-1]
Last week: FR def. DP 5-3, FTW lost to BBM 4-5
Certainly the match of the week as a hot Freedom squad take on the defending champions, who took out Freedom in the finals to earn it. Freedom comes in as the second hottest team in PRO, with a roster that seems to be growing in depth every week, last week with both Andy and Pete making their first appearance of the season. Those two and others will be needed this week as they take on Ant, Brian and the rest of FTW. Like I mentioned earlier, FTW is a strong squad that doesn't need to worry about their play in season, they just need to worry about depth for the playoffs. A big match-up like this though I'm sure will get everyone on the FTW squad fired up to assure themselves and Freedom that the finals last season was not a fluke. I imagine Ant and Brian will be played early to help defeat Freedom quickly.
Prediction - 5-3 For The Win
Beer Ball Masters [5-0] @ Dead Strokes [2-3]
Last week: BBM def. FTW 5-4, DS def. PHP 5-2
This has the makings for a great match if DS are able to carry over the momentum from last weeks win and come out strong against Brent and whoever tags along. Certainly after having to carry so many times, we see Brent is no fluke and is a big reason why BBM are where they are currently in PRO. As strange as it is with all the depth and talent BBM have, Brent has shown resilience this season and is breezing through opponents. Omar and George have the talent to slow him down, but it doesn't look like DS have the talent to slow down BBM.
Prediction - 5-3 BBM
Pool Hall Pros [0-5] @ Break and Run [2-3]
Last week: PHP lost to DS 2-5, BNR lost to SS 2-5
On paper this match doesn't look to be close, but this is the same PHP squad that was able to take FTW to game 9, and Break and Run are in a bit of a slide right now. Actually a major slide. This may be a good opportunity for the likes of Craig, Mina and Ross to get back to their old self and pick up some W's, but they'll need to focus as Candi & co. are a strong side. Ash will be out looking for revenge, and as long as he stays focused he is certainly capable of it, but it's tough to do it solo.
Prediction - 5-3 Break and Run
Atlantic Conference
1st - Beer Ball Masters

Straight Shots [4-1] @ Deep Pockets [0-5]

Sid & co. come into this weeks match up fresh off a big win over Break and Run last week, and they'll look to keep the wins coming in this cross conference portion of the schedule as they look to keep up with BBM. Week Five
Deep Pockets [0-4] @ Freedom [2-2]
Last week: DP no showed, Freedom def. BNR 5-3
Will they show, won't they show. Finally Freedom has a few old timers coming back to play with the likes of Cam, Serena, Scotty and others. They had a big win last week over their rivals thanks to Serena and Adam who turned an 0-3 deficit into their playground and could very well turn their ship around. With the talented depth, anyone who shows, should be good enough for a playoff run this season.
Prediction - 5-1 Freedom
For The Win [4-0] @ Beer Ball Masters [4-0]
Last week: FTW def. PHP 5-4, BBM def. DP 5-0
The two remaining undefeateds meet this week for what should be a barn burner. BBM have met expectations thus far as they have yet to lose, though they have done it unconventionally. If you take out their freebie win, their 3 wins have largely been won by one player doing all the work, which probably won't work this week. The trio of Coma, Kevin and Brent will have their hands full with the other trio of Ant, Brian and Carlos, a simple ABC formula that has worked since they got together. The simple formula to winning this match, will be who can slow down opposing runs. There is no doubt that the 10 people selected to play tonight can break and run a table at any given moment, but with interleagues it's all about selecting those moments to make the most of them.
Prediction - 5-4 FTW
Dead Strokes [1-3] @ Pool Hall Pros [0-4]
Last week: DS lost to SS 2-5, PHP lost to FTW 4-5
Both sides are coming off disappointing losses, and for different reasons. DS got thumped by SS when looking at their roster, they really shouldn't have. PHP were able to take FTW all the way but came up short, they really could have used Ash last week to help finish the job. But this week is a new week, and who knows how either team will play. DS are the hardest to predict, such talented players but so little results, while PHP have finally picked up a stud they need to help get PHP over the hump, but it may be too late. Judging on the poor run DS are on, PHP should win this match, but with that said, this is probably the week DS go off.
Prediction - 5-3 PHP
Break and Run [2-2] @ Straight Shots [3-1]
Last week: BNR lost to FR 3-5, SS def. DS 5-2
Break and Run were not able to capitalize on a 3-0 start over their rivals as they collapsed and couldn't finish Freedom off, and they play another team that seems to be on a roll. Dante was finally able to get a few wins last week as Sid & co. got past DS with ease, and with another win this week, SS can really make a statement as a legit title threat. This match will be exciting to watch with the past two 8brcam champs and a lot of diverse players who can run if necessary or tap into the mornings. Both Pita and Craig sit at 3-3 for their respective teams, even though both are MVP-calibre players. At this point of the season, where it's easy to say this match is a toss up with a slight advantage to Break and Run, but if either Pita or Craig are able to catch fire this match, that'll certainly determine the winner.
Prediction - 5-4 BNR
Last week: DP no showed, Freedom def. BNR 5-3
Will they show, won't they show. Finally Freedom has a few old timers coming back to play with the likes of Cam, Serena, Scotty and others.

Week Four
Straight Shots [2-1] @ Dead Strokes [1-2]
Last week: SS lost to BBM 4-5, DS def. DP 5-2
Always a sporting time between these two squads may come down to some tense moments. With a possibly emergence of Freedom-of-old, the one game lead Sid & co. have over them isn't safe it seems. Going into the cross-conference schedule, this stretch of gaming can make or break a season, and with a rejuvenated SS squad, they'll be looking to make it. Sid has been leading by example thus far, with a surprising contribution from nhan who has 4 wins already. With the depth of JJ, Pita and the latest 8brcam champ, you can see why the loss to BBM was actually a disappointment. It's the same tune once again with Dead Strokes, finally notching a win with their talented team, but now they need to prove they belong. Omar & George have combined for over half their wins, but Luis, Roy, Sean and others need to step up quick before the season gets away. Dead Strokes is always a haven for old players, and it's never a surprise when they show up, so if they can get another player into the roster sooner than later, maybe a new tune will be sung where DS didn't waste another season. This week is a tall task though, and being at home I don't think is enough for DS to overcome SS just yet.
Prediction - 5-3 SS
Beer Ball Masters [3-0] @ Deep Pockets [0-3]
Last week: BBM def. SS 5-4, DP lost to DS 2-5
A mismatch on paper, and certainly on the tables. Once again BBM leaned heavily on a player to get the majority of the wins, and while they can't do it every week, thankfully they don't need to. Tyler won't need to be tense this week as it looks like DP has already taken the hit. Active leagues always have drama, and DP was no different, and in the end Brice and a few players were either kicked or left on their own agenda from DP, which leaves Joe quite the mess. Joe is always one to talk about taking on the pressure of leading a team to greatness, and while he's had a sticky track record, he's once again in the spot light. Who Joe will be able to bring to the table is one thing, but keeping a team together for the full season, even if it'll be a long season, will be another thing. DP has shown potential in the first few weeks, even in the loss last week, but Joe will need to hammer down and help DP reach their potential to prove all the nay-sayers wrong, sadly, this isn't a good week to start that venture.
Prediction - 5-1 BBM
Freedom [1-2] @ Break and Run [2-1]
Last week: FR def. PHP 5-2, BNR lost to FTW 4-5
The second coming of Cameron in Freedom started off on their right foot. Once a key player in their UIC and IPA endeavors, Camerons first game back proved to be a winning one, despite him losing. With Scotty and Adam playing their second match already, it seems a core is being created by Nish that Freedom desperately seeked going into this season. That core will need to be here and playing like it's 2010 to keep this a contest. For Break and Run, they have a core, his name is Jordy, and while he retired for half a week, his return helped saved the embarrassment of being shut out by FTW. Ash, Craig, Gus and Tanmay are all proven veterans in the game and need to yield more support if they look to win it all once again. This cross conference schedule will be a telling tale of whether or not BNR can do it as a team against the likes of FR, SS and BBM, or if it will be, like always, the Jordy show.
Prediction - 5-3 BNR.
Pool Hall Pros [0-3] @ For The Win [3-0]
Last week: PHP lost to FR 2-5, FTW def. BNR 5-4
With the loss of Cam, PHP are really stacked against the odds to be able to put together a run for the playoffs. Their cross-conference schedule doesn't start much easier either facing a FTW squad who made quick work of Break and Run last week, apart from needing all 5 players to take down Jordy. This week shouldn't be much of a contest, but I'm hoping PHP can surprise some people as they are a good squad, just over matched.
Prediction - 5-2 FTW

Week Three
Straight Shots [2-0] at Beer Ball masters [2-0]
Last week: SS def. FR 5-1, BBM def. PHP 5-2
After a pair of game 9 victories, including a come from behind for BBM, last week was a simple time for both sides as they destroyed their opponents, and this week could very well be another destruction. There's no question BBM deserve to be 2-0, they are a great team, and there is no knock on the great start by SS, but the big question they face is whether or not they have the ability to hang with BBM. The likely hood of Sid or Dante carrying is unlikely, so the likes of Pita and JJ will need to step up if they look to be the lone team at the top of their conference. Brent has done great work for BBM so far, and while it's unlikely he can go undefeated every match, it is even more unlikely that the rest of the BBM squad suffers like they have thus far, I expect a couple of them to turn it around and unless SS is ready, it could be a quick match.
Prediction - 5-2 BBM
Pool Hall Pros [0-2] at Freedom [0-2]
Last week: PHP lost to BBM 2-5, FR lost to SS 1-5
After both sides fell just one game away from being 1-0, they now find themselves tied at the bottom both winless, thankfully one side will get their first win and with these two, it's likely the loser won't be able to catch up the rest of the way. Neither side was able to get any momentum last week, as they fell behind early and just watched the match slip away. The one bright side for Freedom is that Scotty is back, and his talents will be needed against the likes of Cam and Candi.
Prediction - 5-3 FR
For The Win [2-0] at Break and Run [2-0]
Last week: FTW def. DP 5-2, BNR def DS 5-1
By far the match of the week and really gets my head spinning about the implications of the week 10 match between these two sides, much like how the two faced off during the last week of last season with the push for Ant to get MVP. With the pressure of so many all-star players, and an ego or two, it's likely there will be more trash-talk than usual, whether they stay within the lines is another story. There isn't much to say about the match because both line ups will be stacked, notably Break and Run with Jordy back already. For The Win have had Ross & co's number for the past few matches, will the addition of Ash to the roster be enough to get Break and Run over the FTW hump or will the streak continue?
Prediction - 5-4 FTW
Dead Strokes [0-2] at Deep Pockets [0-2]
Last week: DS lost to BNR 1-5, DP lost to FTW 2-5
One of these two sides are going to have a record in PRO that most of the players have ever faced. Both sides were blown out last week and will need a win this week if they look to stay within the reach of the top two. Brice will need his big guns to not only show, but to play like big guns if they look to get past another stacked DS squad whom are just sputtering out of the gates. After blowing a 4-1 lead, DS got thumped last week and it makes this week that much harder to predict for them. In a perfect world, this is where they turn it around and get their first win but if the history of DS shows us anything, it's that DS are unpredictable.

Week Two
Deep Pockets [0-1] @ For The Win [1-0]
Last week: DP lost 4-5 vs BNR / FTW def. DS 5-4
Last week DP changed the way we view them with a great (albeit) loss against a strong BNR squad. They did so without _supafly_ who was outstanding in the first tournament, and with Marco and niqqasinparis under the DP banner, I'm already happy for them as they can easily make my pre-season prediction look silly, if they do indeed do anything with the talent they have. On the other side, we have a FTW squad who stumbled and fell down, only to have Brian carry each one up the the stairs to victory. In all honesty, DP could go up 4-0 and still lose, not because they aren't as good, but because of the depth FTW possesses and can show on any given night. Whether it's Brian again, or Roy, or Ant, or Stephen, or anyone, beating all 5 members is a monumental task. I doubt they'll allow another team any time soon to get to 4, whether quickly or late in the match, we'll see just how strong this new looked DP squad is.
Prediction - 5-3 FTW
Break and Run [1-0] @ Dead Stokes [0-1]
Last week: BNR def. DP 5-4 / DS lost 4-5 vs FTW
After narrowly escaping a shocking start, Ross & co. look to get back to their dominating ways against a strong DS squad. With Mina back, Ross is blessed with talented depth that will be needed in this conference, especially with the loss of Jordy. Jordy was by far Break and Runs best player, being an MVP candidate, if not MVP, season after season. The face of the league has gone, but thankfully for Ross he has many players that can fill the void on any given week. For Dead Strokes, it was a missed opportunity. One win away from defeating the back to back champs, and they couldn't close it. On the bright side (not so much for those who have to play DS), they looked to be stacked once again. Other than the O duo, with Sean and Luis being active on the roster, DS have the depth that can beat any team. Playing FTW and BNR back to back is tough to start the season, but despite the loss, it's easy to say DS are still feeling good about their chances, especially facing a BNR squad with no Jordy for the first time in years...
Prediction - 5-3 DS
Beer Ball Masters [1-0] @ Pool Hall Pros [0-1]
Last week: BBM def. FR 5-4 / PHP lost vs SS 5-4
With names like Tyler, Coma, Conor and Kevin all linked to BBM, it was an unlikely and surprising start to the season for Brent who won all 5 against Freedom in the opener to send these alcoholics to the bar happy. There's no question it was a fluke where one player on this squad was forced to win all 5, and while it is unlikely for it to happen again, there's no question it can be done again. But chances are, the other 4 are out for revenge looking to get their records back to positive, rough week for Cameron ahead. Cameron almost was the third player to 5-0 a team in the first week, but feel short against Sid in SS. Cameron will need help, whether it's from Candi, Raj or Steve, but him carrying against BBM just isn't something possible despite the crazy start to the season.
Prediction - 5-1 BBM
Freedom [0-1] @ Straight Shots [1-0]
Last week: FR lost 4-5 vs BBM / SS won 5-4 vs PHP
Missed opportunity is the easiest way to explain the situation Freedom are now left with. Coming into the season with mixed expectations, the win that got away, may very well come back to haunt them. On the bright side, their roster looks as talented as seasons past where they had no issue rolling through the seasons. Looks can be deceiving though, and while it's early, this is a big, big match for Freedom to try and rebound. Straight Shots would be in the same boat as Freedom, but their captain and ex-Freedom player sealed the deal in game 9 against Cameron. Sid will need the same kind of start if they look to make it 2 in a row to start the season. The likes of Sergio and JJ will help out plenty with the work load, and with Pita winning once again, the form looks to be back and if they are able to round up a solid 5th player for this week, it could be happy times ahead for SS!
Prediction - 5-3 SS

Week 1
Beer Ball Masters @ Freedom
One of two matches to kick off the season, seems like poor scheduling on the behalf of Pete/Nish. As previously opinionated, this Freedom squad could go in either direction, meaning they can start this season off with a bang, or come out completely flat and whimpering into the second week. Tyler & co. will come out strong, with everyone on his roster looking to carry as everyone on his roster is capable of. Even if Freedom is able to bring an all-star calibre team, it'll be tough to get past one of the pre-season favs, as long as they show.
Prediction - 5-3 BBM
Pool Hall Pros @ Straight Shots
The second match this week will paint a good picture for both these sides. Both these sides should match up evenly, but with Straight Shots you'll never know if they are able to completely blank PHP or be blanked by them. For Candi & co., we know who will show. The likes of herself, Tommy and Raj, along with Bev and others will all be crucial to how this season plays out. Straight Shots has always had a history of starting slow (sometimes rebounding and sometimes not), so if history has anything to do with anything, this is a crucial match for PHP to be able to get started on the right foot.
Prediction - 5-4 SS
Deep Pockets @ Break and Run
A tough way to start your PRO career as DP faces the defending regular season champions, but Brice and Joe will no doubt be coming in confident that they can slay the dragons. Apart from Steve, it'll be interesting to see who else Brice and Joe are able to bring to the table, they had a good showing in the weekly tournament, so hopefully that is able to carry over and translate into some success. For Break and Run, it'll be the same ol same ol. Expectations are to win, every week, and with a supporting cast of Mike, Paul and Lisa who have carried in the past, it's easy to see why their expectations are, and should be sky high.
Prediction - 5-1 BNR
For The Win @ Dead Strokes
While George had a great showing in the seasons first tournament, and Omar is no push over, who else will DS be able to bring to be able to compete and try and stick with FTW? If Luis is able to show, it sure gives DS a fighting chance as a couple of early wins could snowball into a match victory for them. This season for FTW is more about who gets to sit. Trying to pick from Ant, Stephen, Travis, Brian, Roy, Danielle, Carlos and others might be the toughest thing they have to deal with all season. Tough life there champs.
Prediction - 5-2 FTW

Season 16 Predictions
Welcome back to PRO everyone for another season. Sure seems like every off season is longer than the last. Congrats to FTW on repeating as champions as it seems, like Roy said, the usual for FTW. Welcome to the new leagues who are not new to interleagues at all, which should set up for a great season.
Atlantic Conference
1st - Beer Ball Masters
Any time an old league is created that has had a lot of history (sorry Thomas re-creations), there comes a lot of pressure that the league, while usually containing talented players, can maintain their historic past over the course of many season. While Tyler & co. got off to a rough start in the timers interleague, it's safe to say they'll be here all season, and most of the playoffs this season. Led by Tyler, he is joined by the likes of Coma, Kevin, Matt, Brent, Jason, with the possibility of MJ and Conor among others. Safe to say, the cream of the crop in the Atlantic. They have shown some consistency in UIC, the only other interleague they've played in as a group, and while there was the one no-show and one week without a full team, it pains the active leagues to see that this is one team that can bring 3 on a night and probably win with ease. As PRO does have more prestige than its counterparts, I don't see an issue of Tyler & co. not making an effort to get here week after week, and it'll be a quick path to the playoffs for them.
Key players: Kevin, Conor.
Best case record: 10-0
Probable record: 8-2
Worst case record: 6-4
2nd - Freedom
Freedom and Straight shots are a toss up, as the reasoning is the same: Who will they have? With Pete's departure in the second half of the last season of PRO, and playing 0 times in 4orce, this team is squarely on the shoulders of Nish. The comeback of Travis was a no-go, and Carlos, the key player in this squads emergence to the 4orce finals is back in FTW. Their ladder has shrunk, dependables have all since evaporated, and it looks like Nish will have to rely on the old timers of Freedoms past to push them back into the playoffs. If Andy, Matt, Scotty, Adam and Ben can all last one more season, Nish won't have a worry in the world, but if only 1-2 from the aforementioned group can show, it'll be a long season for Freedom.
Key players: Nish
Best case record: 7-3
Probable record: 6-4
Worst case record: 3-7
3rd - Straight Shots
Like Freedom, who does Straight Shots have?! It's a question that is asked season after season, and sometimes they come through, while others they do not. It's a safe assumption Pita will be there for Nigel & Shelle, but as shown last season, it's not enough anymore. The addition of Sid is key, as it may open the door for other players to come in and if they can get 1-2 more play-off calibre players, the playoffs won't be a question for them. Straight Shots always go back and forth, up and down the ladders season after season, and based off their minor rump the past little bit, it's not an invalid assumption to call this a bounce-back season for them.
Key players: Sid, Nigel
Best case record: 8-2
Probable record: 6-4
Worst case record: 3-7
4th - Pool Hall Pros
Last, but certainly not least in this conference we see PHP, who last season were given the boost of Mike but to no avail in the playoffs. This season could very well be different though. With the shaky statuses of Straight Shots and Freedom, this could be the season Candi & Raj are able to get their league to the highest finish they've ever had. Last season they relied on Candi a bit too much, and were able to get into the playoffs purely based on their conference. This season will need to be different, and they will have to rely on their better players each week, as the schedule has shrunk, so lost matches multiply. This squad certainly has the potential to get into the top 2, they just need to seize the opportunity.
Key players: Candi, Tommy, Raj
Best case record: 7-3
Probable record: 5-5
Worst case record: 2-8
Pacific Conference
1st - For The Win
Congrats to Danielle & co. for going back to back. In celebration, they add one of the more dynamic interleague players around in Travis, while losing no one in the process. It makes sense that adding a player who starts with T in their quest to Three-peat. There isn't much to say about this squad as their records across the game speaks for itself. A near flawless record in UIC shows their current depth in how they should now never have to struggle to bring 5 to the table.
Key players: Ant, Trav, Brian, Roy
Best case record: 10-0
Probable record: 10-0
Worst case record: 8-2
2nd - Break and Run
Will people cheer for this squad to be the one to at least beat FTW once out of two attempts during the season? Who knows, but they do have a great shot at doing so. Last season they had the best record in PRO thanks to the likes of Jordy and Craig, names that are no where close to new as PRO vets. Last season Ross was a surprising addition to the 10-win club. He normally doesn't play enough to be able to reach that goal as carrying is scarce for this team, but hopefully this gives him the confidence to be able to count on himself in big matches as he is one of the more underrated players in the game. Depth will once again be a question of concern though, while in seasons past players like Lewis, Gus, Croz and poolscrub were counted on, it looks their departures or more than likely in stone, but with the return of Tanmay and the possibility of Ash, if they are able to play every week, Break and Run will once again have the chance to be at the top of the mountain.
Key players: Jordy, Craig, Ross
Best case record: 9-1
Probable record: 7-3
Worst case record: 5-5
3rd - Dead Strokes
Last season was another one to forget as DS once again held very high expectations and fell every bit short, luckily this season, DS carries very little expectation as the roster seems bare at best. Like last season, DS will count on George and Omar to do the heavy lifting, while the supporting cast has yet to be determined. Will the lack of expectations help DS? Will George be able to bring DS to heights Omar was unable to? Or will this once again be a long season for Dead Strokes? They, like always, have the capabilities through their network to bring back some studs like Sean (sparky), and be able to put together a great starting five to be able to make a push for the playoffs, but it's tough to believe in them when they've crushed so many hearts in the past that believed.
Key players: Omar, George
Best case record: 6-4
Probable record: 4-6
Worst case record: 3-7
4th - Deep Pockets
Led by Brice, and Joe DP will bring the experience needed to be able to compete, and while the addition of Steve is a good one for them, they'll need to do more, whether by picking up or as a team to compete with the best of them this season. Both Brice and Joe have led teams to upsets before, and good seasons, and they'll need to pull out all the stops this season to do so. Chances are it'll be a long season, but neither will quit and a good start could give them an early season push they need. Far from a push over though, so teams shouldn't be looking past them until the 8 ball has sunk.

Season 15 Finale.
For The Win vs Freedom
On October 29th, the season started with a rematch of the Season 14 Finals where For The Win defeated Dead Strokes 5-3. 126 days later we not only see this seasons finals begin, but strangely enough on a Sunday.
These two sides played back in Week 7 where For The Win defeated Freedom with ease 5 games to 1. While there was the drama that comes with top-tier teams battling it out, not much has changed between these two squads apart from seeming closer than ever. Some from FTW have joined Freedom in UICSwiss, while in UIC some from Freedom have joined FTW. But while pre-match they'll be having fun, tensions will be high during the matches without question.
Both sides finished the season at 11-2, and 8/10 of the players that played in Week 7 are eligible, and there's no question all 8 won't be at the table. 9/10 players in the game will probably pick For The Win to win, and with good reason. While Freedom is strong 1-5, For The Win just has players that can dominate, and it'll take some of the best play by Freedom to take this finale.
Week 7 highlights - ftw_murkedddd [2-0] defeated fr_win-win-win [1-1] to clinch the match in just game 6.
It's tough to call match-ups between the two sides because unlike BNR-FTW, there is much more versatility and the rivalry isn't as strong as FTW-BNR. The one match-up I don't think anyone wants to see is Andy face Roy as that game alone might take us right into match 2.
The pressure on For The Win is minimal. These guys have done it last season under the FTW banner and have done it many other times for other squads. For Freedom, this is just another shot at the only thing they've yet to win. They fell to Roy & SP a few seasons prior, and of course the memorable 13-0 season that meant nothing. The odds are against Freedom as this FTW side is much tougher than both SP and the LPL team they lost to in the semi-finals on their 13-0 season. But they'll be playing all out no question, attempting to get the only thing they've been unable to grasp. Up and down the line up no matter who Freedom brings to the table will be as patient as ever, not wanting to mess up and give FTW the easy road. While not on purpose, this could deter FTW as a long match for them would cut into the early hours of the morning for the load of Europeans, and frustrate them into bang runs that could leave it open for Freedom. But in the end it's tough to bet against the team that has done it before. Freedom might be able to squeak one out but FTW shouldn't have much of an issue.
Prediction - 5-3, 3-5, 5-2 FTW.

Pacific Conference Championship
For The Win [12-2] @ Break and Run [12-1]
Both sides had seasons we all expected, with neither team even doubting missing the playoffs, and the first seed coming down to the 13th week. All due respect to other opponents all season long, those matches just did not matter. Both sides played twice this season, both times the home team won 5-4, and in both games their best player rose to the occasion to carry.
Week 3 highlights: bnr_xlx_skill_xlx [3-0] def. ftw_spc_shogun [3-1] in game 9. bnr_l_chiddy_l & ftw_mvp_sicc both went 0-1.
Week 10 highlights: ftw_mvp_sicc [3-0] def. bnr_auto.loser [3-1] in game 9. bnr_l_chiddy_l went 0-1.
While the home team is 2-0 in this mini-series, it is not the fault of the game 9 loser by any means. The away team lost simply because key players lost early. In the playoffs though, shots mean that much more, if a table is not fully open, the best players turn it into a snooker match. Games seem slowed down, and for good reason. With such a great rivalry between these two that has been created in such a short period of time, with so much on the line, mistakes in this match will be hard to find. Both Conference Championship matches showcased 2 of the top 3 rivalries in interleagues today, with a possibility for the 3rd to take place in the finals (Freedom vs Break and Run). But before we get ahead of ourselves, we need to look at this match.
While the best teams have made it through this season to the semis making for drool-worthy match-ups, this match has some great match-ups itself.
Jordy vs Ant - Is there any question as to why? Both men carried their teams in their wins in weeks 3 & 10, they had their own All-Star match up, and had a memorable MVP chase all the way to the end of the season.
Craig vs Brian - A match-up of the 'Second Men' on each side. Both have extreme talent, both have similar play styles and can alter their game to put the other off-style after just a few shots. Both men came close to the previous two for MVP and while both would probably attempt to run each other, in a match-up like this a long but calculated run to amaze the audience would be how the game is won.
Roy vs Mina - The forgotten thirds? Two men capable of carrying the load themselves find themselves down the list on their respective teams. Certainly not a bad thing because with these two under the radar, scary things can happen. While both players would be playing in the wee hours of the morning, the patience these two would show would be unreal, and could probably make the other players suffer. A long snook match with great shots and great planning would sadly, and probably be decided by a glitch or an early morning poor decision an hour into the game.
Jimbo, Ben & Danielle vs Ross, Gus, Paul & Lisa - The forgottens - Any of these players could wheel off a 2-0 record in a blink of an eye and be the deciding factor in the match, and with all the attention on the top 6 guys, these players will need to be flawless to assure that they put their team in the best position and slip under the radar to possibly steal the show and get their Internet fame for a few days.
Will the match be a case of who ever beats Jordy/Ant first determine the winner? What if neither make it out of the first 5? In a match-up of so many big guns, so many players that have done it before (~90% of these current rosters were with their respective teams when they won PRO in previous seasons), it comes down to a lost notion in PRO, but possibly the most important come playoff time. A complete team-effort. Where cheaters rose to fame in interleagues like MLP when captains couldn't trust their own players to get it done, and had to do it themselves, multiple times. Both sides have entire trust in their line-up, both sides come in with the expectation that they will crush the other in stunning fashion. In any given match-up, it is hard to imagine one player winning over the other as an upset. Both sides will show up to the table with theme music playing in their head. A match like this, in such a big stage, steals whatever spotlights still shine on pool these days.
Pressure can get to players and teams who aren't experienced come playoff time, but mistakes will be minimal in this. The tension will be high simply because of the meaning of this match, slowing the match down, making it a struggle for observers to maintain their attention but when one shot by these greats can turn the tide of the game, or even match, every shot weighs heavy. There is no question that this will be a long night for all parties. Will being home give that much advantage to Jordy? Tough to say because unless Jordy goes off the probable game plan, I think either side would have called 80% of the same match-ups. Will the third time be the charm for the away team? Or will consistency over the season pan out?
For The Win are a team that everyone expects to be at the top all the time, and get all the headlines. Despite Break and Runs success over the many years, they always seem to be the quiet team at the top, the little engine that could. In a match where the audience can probably agree that it came down to just a few shots, a toss up like this will have to go to the home team.
Prediction - Break and Run win 5-4. Mina vs Brian for all the glory.

Round One & Season Review
Atlantic Conference Final Standings:
1st - Break and Run (Predicted 2nd)
Pre-Season Prediction:
The usual suspect to always be battling for the top spot, Break and Run come in unchanged as usual so there isn't much to stay. The usual crop of Jordy, Mina and Ross will be looked upon to lead this team into the playoffs once again, and with the help of Mike and Lisa, and Gus when he does show. There is never much depth on this team, which has always almost hurt them, but never has, but can you really rely on the same 6-7 players over ~3 years and expect the same success? So far Ross has been able to.
Key Players: Gus, Jordy, Mina
Best case record: 12-1
Probable record: 9-4
After finishing the season with their 'best case record', Break and Run receive a bye in the first round. In previous seasons this squad has finished first in the conference, the first time with a championship, the second with a round one loss. While two of the key players squeaked into playoff eligibility, Ross has once again relied on the same crop to get them to the top, mainly Jordy with another top-tier season, finishing in the top 3 of the MVP standings for what seems like the 5th consecutive season. While their early-season acquisition of Craig showed signs of a team desperate for added depth, it has given Break and Run just that, and the seasons best record, so a solid move.
2nd - For The Win (Predicted 1st)
Pre-Season Prediction:
It's always difficult to think a defending champion cannot do it again, and with Danielle & Co. seemingly only getting stronger, the message shown by For The Win is quite simple, we're the best, deal with it. So good indeed, Ant isn't as important anymore. Yes he is good, but with recent acquisitions for them, he can lose and no one on the team will be sweating. As long as Danielle can keep everyone interested for the entire season, the season should be a breeze for them.
Key Players: Ant, Brian, Stephen
Best case record: 13-0
Probable record: 11-2
Finishing the season with their 'Probable record', mainly due to the fact of the teams best efforts to boost Ants MVP stats, Danielle & co. were clearly not worried about the playoffs one bit, nor should they. With 4 players barely meeting the eligibility requirements, the season may have been stressful for Danielle but what is done is done, and now comes the focus of repeating. The new acquisitions for FTW that were made prior to the season may not have panned out as it seems most of their added strength didn't seem to contribute much during the season, it was the same old story with Ant & Brian carrying the torch.
3rd - Pool Hall Pros (Predicted 5th)
Pre-Season Prediction:
Always sucks having to put a team in last, but as a realist, that is how I see it today. Last season PHP showed minimal success with Trio and Joe living up to none of their talk. But with them gone, it doesn't seem like it will get any better. The usual players of Bev, Damo and Razzy will do their best with the new help of Maria and Mikey, and while PHP have a similar situation to PDZ in terms of being able to upset most teams, they really are lacking depth that I can see that will help and allow them challenge for a playoff spot. Best of luck this season though.
Key Players: Damo, Mikey, Razzy
Best case record: 6-7
Probable record: 3-10
While the key players stepped up early on, this playoff spot was due to a lot changing in the second half with 2 teams fading, Candi stepping up and a late, late acquisition in Mike. Their playoff run might be short, unless Mike can regather his form from his ICA days and hope Candi can share the same, but a solid season nonetheless, and kudos on proving this predictor incorrect.
4th - Poolers Paradise (Predicted 3rd)
Pre-Season Prediction:
A Thomas Podmore league in PRO? I recall writing about his leagues in other leagues lasting no more than half a season, but it seems that this league has been stable for quite some time, and with Jess by his side, this creates a stable environment unseen by Thomas. The type of players Thomas has, has always been the same though with an inconsistent group of "no where else to go". Which is good and bad, good in the sense that returning players with poor histories will come here first, bad in the sense that they bring the same poor attitude and will jump ship whenever it rains. Again, Jess brings the stability that I believe can lead RDU to not only a full season in a proper interleague, but post-season opportunity.
Key Players: Cam, handkrash, Thomas
Best case record: 10-3
Probable record: 7-6
What can be written? While Thomas once again showed he was incapable of leading an interleague team, it was that consistency in Jess that saved the day for RDU by taking over and merging with Poolers Paradise. While their season may not have gone well at all, a lot was shown in the character of members of this team. Kudos to Jess, Tim, Dylan & Dragon for doing their best for looking over the holes Thomas had created, but carrying on in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.
5th - Bye/Pool Dragonz (Predicted 4th)
Pre-Season Prediction:
Always a team that everyone enjoys playing with, Pool Dragonz returns to PRO and with the apparent merge of Joes league, they finally have depth. Charles & Joe will be leading this team with average expectations, but the real ability to upset some of the top teams. The quality of players usually brought to the table by PDZ are not full of big names, but rather 5 quality names that at any given night, can upset any team. PDZ may have the best history of quality upsets, and as long as Joe, their captain, is able to play this season and not turn it into something political, PDZ have a realistic chance of being able to defeat any team beyond DS & FTW.
Key Players: Charles, Joe, Rob
Best case record: 8-5
Probable record: 5-8
The expectations and opportunities were there, but in the end Joe could not muster enough interest and members to field an active team and in the end, a result of the second withdrawal in the past 5 seasons.
Pacific Conference Final Standings:
1st - Freedom (Predicted 3rd)
Pre-Season Prediction:
From 13-0, to missing the playoffs, and this prediction like other predictors have noted, is purely based on Pete. The WPC roster Freedom has is basically Break and Run + Pete (Pete is eligible in Break and Run too, why not just BNR?), their 4orce roster is nothing like Freedom has had in seasons past and looking at their roster from the last half of UIC last season, Pete is in trouble with players. Consistently, I see him having DJ, Ash and Tim almost every week, beyond that I feel the depth of west_coast_guy420 and... I literally cannot find another ID that seems to show every now and then for Freedom. Pete has the ability to gain top-flight players, and there is the chance that his old players come back for one more whirl but Freedom is the X-Factor this season, any record for them is imaginable.
What separates them from the other two: Experience
Key Players: Pete
Best case record: 9-4
Probable record: 6-7
While early on it was DJ & Pete carrying the load and giving Freedom a surprise start to the season, a lot was made of Pete's departure from week-day interleagues and the effect it would have on the team that only he has captained for what seems like forever. Not only was Nish able to return, but the likes of Andy and Dan were able to return and push Freedom to the top spot, despite all the drama that brewed internally. Kudos on showing experience wins in the long run, and good luck in the playoffs.
2nd - Harley Hustlers (Predicted 5th)
Pre-Season Prediction:
HH is a tight group lead by Steve, full of great people he has gotten this league a lot of recognition for being great people to play with, and being quite active as well. With SP falling, Steve has been able to acquire Brice for some much needed experience, kind of. Brice has experience, but just doesn't use it. If he's able to develop a game plan and share his knowledge with everyone else, HH will have a quick jump up the talent level and become most likely to finish third, but if Brice reads this, chances are he had no plans to before hand nor knows what to say to them now. HH have a good crop of players, and started off well in 4orce, so the possibility is there to continue the success this season.
What separates them from the other two: Upset ability
Key Players: Brice, Matt, Steve
Best case record: 7-6
Probable record: 5-8
Like RDU/PP, this season sure had its chapters for HH. First came Brice, then Brice vanished. Then came Croz & Maria, and then came first in the conference for HH. Then came Thomas, then came second, third, the loss of Mike and a late season push to avoid missing the playoffs. But with that over with, the playoffs are here. While it was Croz and Thomas leading HH the entire way, there was added depth, but it seems depth isn't an issue for Thomas as he looks to change dates leaving Frank high and dry, a large reason for any success HH has gotten. The playoffs will be interesting, but a second place finish is great work by this squad.
3rd - Dead Strokes (Predicted 1st)
Pre-Season Prediction:
First predictor not to rag on DS and their recruiting methods? I'll try. Coming off a season in which they were runners-up in the playoffs, and other interleague seasons where they were runners-up as well, hard to pick any other spot for them than to repeat as a finals contender. With the likes of Luis B. and Ashton more or less fully retired, Omar will now lean on other old school players who have returned in Ogges and TJ. The fact he has allowed Craig to captain makes me ponder the decision and looking down the road, if Craig is expected to captain the entire season, there may be quite some turmoil on the team. The last time he was in PRO there was the apparent aimering in the all-star match so not sure what Roy is thinking, but Craig is a dynamite player that can possible put DS over their finals hump and give them that trophy they desire.
Key Players: Craig, Pommy, Omar
Best case record: 13-0
Probable record: 11-2
A horrible start, due to multiple players just not being apart of the team, led Dead Strokes to a late season frenzy where they managed just enough wins to get into the bracket. Craig, their pre-season captain seemed to have captained 0 games, and players like Luis, Ashton, Pommy and TJ would not have even be eligible for the playoffs if their stats were combined. An early season MVP push by Rocky saved them from drowning, but he hasn't been on in months. With Ogges & Omar keeping them straight all season, it was a late season push from Cubby that in the end got DS into the playoffs, now the runner-ups have their work cut out for them, but anything is possible.
4th - Straight Shots (Predicted 2nd)
Pre-Season Prediction:
Depth has never, ever been an issue for Straight Shots, but coming into this season, it seems they've finally gotten something they've been missing over the past few seasons: solid players. The likes of Dustin, Kenny and Saf are great for Shelle & co. With the SSCam season boasting their own player in the Division B finals, that depth that has been talked about since day one has finally grown and now their depth of the past, is finally quality depth and Straight Shots should be able to compete for the top spot over all if they are able to find consistent play.
Key Players: Dustin, Kenny, Saf
Best case record: 12-2
Probable record: 9-4
Their key players went a collective 3-6 for the season, and the only player to step up was Pita who returned to pool too late in the season to get Straight Shots back on track as an early season table deficit was just too much for even the tourny-champ to overcome. Straight Shots were on thin ice all season, and the ice may have cracked with Camerons fake-death antics causing his dismissal from Straight Shots. A season to forget, but like always it's known Straight Shots will bounce back tomorrow.
5th - 8Ball Crushers (Predicted 4th)
Pre-Season Prediction:
A team I love predicting, Andrew brings 8BC back for another whirl of things. Last season they saw success on an individual level with different players coming out in their limited time taking over for who ever withdrew. 8BC is a real active league, and a real nice league too. The players they bring are people you have the ability to talk to for hours after and just great people over all. You won't get any drama with this league and every match is quality as Andrew is able to bring solid players to the table. They can compete against any league and while they miss the "knock-out" factor of a top notch player, they have guys that can get on a roll any night.
What separates them from the other two: Consistent depth
Key Players: Andrew, Dawn.
Best case record: 8-6
Probable record: 5-8
This squad had their fair share of ups and downs this season, early on they were given an opportunity to build a lead in the playoff picture with the struggles of DS & SS, but were unable to capitalize and just couldn't get back on their feet. Another season led by Andrew shows his consistency, one can only hope that this group learns from this season and can achieve success down the road.
Playoff Predictions:
Pool Hall Pros (6-7) @ For The Win (11-2)
While a complete mismatch on paper, in week 2 they did battle to a 5-4 final score. The 5-0 blanking by FTW later in the season may have been more realistic, PHP have gained a crucial asset in Mike for the playoffs. The success of Pool Hall Pros rests on the shoulders of Candi & Mike as it is tough to see anyone else on the team getting more than one win off FTW. Danielle brings her boys to the yard and it's not a yard you want to deal with. Outstanding seasons by both Ant & Brian headline this team, but it's the added depth of Roy & others who will give Danielle the best chance to repeat as champions.
Prediction - 5-2 For The Win.
Dead Strokes (7-6) @ Harley Hustlers (8-5)
Record-wise, this is a toss up. On paper, this is a mismatch. While in the pre-season I don't think anyone would have predicted DS to lose, now it's the opposite and many may not give Omar & co. a chance. But, one thing DS have to deal with that HH may as well, is the question of who exactly will show up. While DS have a super limited roster; Joey, George and Omar could very well do it themselves, which doesn't bode well for HH who may not be able to field a full roster themselves. This match will come down to 5 players; Joey, George and Omar for DS, and Croz and Thomas for HH. If big names are knocked out for either side early, the hole just might be too large to overcome. It's tough to predict two captains who have had poor seasons and now rely on a one-match playoff to move on, but it's tough to see a limited HH side prevail over a DS side that will certainly know the pressure is on, and that's when these guys seem to be at their best.
Prediction - 5-4 Dead Strokes.
I'll try.
